Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Accountant to join our finance team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing various accounting functions, ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and supporting the financial health of the organization. Duties
- Prepare, analyze, and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes using financial software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or PeopleSoft.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and perform month-end closing activities in compliance with GAAP standards.
- Support payroll management through systems like ADP, UltiPro, Kronos, or Ceridian, ensuring timely processing and accuracy.
- Assist with tax preparation, compliance reporting, and non-profit accounting requirements when applicable.
- Utilize Excel data analysis skills to generate reports, perform variance analysis, and support budgeting processes.
- Maintain detailed documentation of financial transactions and ensure adherence to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) controls for internal audit purposes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on financial concepts such as credit analysis, account analysis, and account reconciliation to optimize financial operations.
Experience
- Proven accounting experience within a corporate or governmental setting, ideally including public accounting exposure.
- Strong proficiency in accounting systems such as Workday, PeopleSoft, SAP (Systems Applications and Products), or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms.
- Demonstrated expertise in financial software including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, ADP, Ceridian, Kronos, UltiPro or equivalent tools.
- Solid understanding of GAAP principles and technical accounting standards; experience with SOX compliance is highly desirable.
- Excellent numeracy skills with the ability to perform complex data entry tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Experience managing accounts payable/receivable processes along with payroll management responsibilities.
- Ability to perform detailed account analysis through account reconciliation and balance sheet review.
- Strong mathematical aptitude combined with effective communication skills for clear reporting and documentation purposes.
