Position Summary:
Primary responsibility is to deliver and coordinate patient care on the assigned shift and provide leadership to the staff with direct oversight of LPNs and LNAs.
Qualifications:
Education/ Experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current Vermont RN license in good standing. AHA BLS certification required.
Other Requirements: Computer skills and familiarity with using an electronic medical record essential. Excellent customer services skills. Strong team player.

Essential Functions Of The Position:

Provides care, treatments, and services within the RN scope of practice.

Implementation of provider’s orders to include medication administration and treatments.

Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.

Prepares and administers prescribed medications with appropriate documentation. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy.

Identifies psychosocial needs of patients and family and incorporates them into the patient’s care plan.

Educates patients on medical procedures and patient’s personalized plan of care.

Provides bedside care for a variety of medical patients.

Initiates patient education plan. Teaches patients how to manage their care.

Complies with Pyxis Medication Dispensing policies and protocols.

Maintains POC competency and documents per hospital standards and policies.

Assist Providers with procedures as requested and within scope of practice, demonstrating good technical and manual skills.

Consults other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs. Aware of available support services.

Is flexible, organized, and able to function in stressful situations.

Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety.

Manages and operates all equipment safely and correctly.

Records patients’ medical information, vital signs and care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner.
