Join our dedicated team as an At-Promise Youth Mentoring Specialist, where you will play a vital role in empowering justice impacted youth who are at risk of falling through the cracks. Duties
- Provide mentoring support to 25-30 justice impacted youth identified and eligible for Garden Pathways At-Promise Youth Mentoring Services
- Provide intensive case management services through intake and assessment, linkage and coordination of services, advocacy, and follow up
- Develop and implement Mentoring Service Plans with youth that include activities that address risk and needs and create pathways towards youth’s goals
- Build trusting relationships with At-Promise youth to encourage personal growth, self-esteem, and resilience
- Maintain regular contact (minimum of 1 in-person contact per week) with each youth
- Prepare and provide progress reports as needed
- Collaborate with law enforcement, educators, social workers, and families to support youth’s needs
- Facilitate engaging youth programs focused on life skills, social-emotional learning, and adolescent development
- Provide transportation to youth clients to and from appointments and activities when no other transportation option is available (bus pass, Uber, Lyft, etc.)
- Attend meetings with youth and their families, including school, medical, counseling, and court
- Participate in and assist with facilitation of group workshops and activities, including self-esteem, forgiveness, and anger management mentoring groups out of custody and in-custody
- Maintain daily case notes that capture all work done on each youth, and collect data and demographic information and input data into CaseMGR
- Meet with Youth Mentoring Coordinator regularly for supervision, guidance, youth participant review, and submission of progress reports
- Participate in the planning and implementation of enrichment activities for youth
Qualifications
- Experience working with justice-impacted or at-risk youth in educational, childcare, or social service settings
- Knowledge of the juvenile justice and foster care systems
- Background in behavioral health or social work related to high-risk populations
- Familiarity with group facilitation best practices for classroom management
- Strong understanding of child welfare systems and working effectively with families facing complex challenges
- Excellent conflict management skills coupled with the ability to teach and mentor in diverse environments
- Prior youth programs experience is highly desirable
- Ability to engage empathetically while maintaining professional boundaries in high-pressure situations

Pay: $18.00 - $26.00 per hour
