Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers, including refrigerated trailers, on local transfer routes within designated areas.
- Load and unload freight efficiently using manual handling techniques, ensuring cargo integrity and adherence to logistics cargo handling protocols.
- Navigate routes accurately using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules and optimize travel efficiency.
- Transport hazardous materials (hazmat) in compliance with Hazardous Materials Regulations and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) guidelines.
- Maintain compliance with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations, including hours of service, vehicle inspections, and safety protocols.
- Load and unload freight, verifying cargo against shipping documents and ensuring proper securing of goods for transit.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding route updates, delivery status, or any issues encountered during transit.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements for hazardous materials (Hazmat), tanker, or other specialized loads as applicable.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, specifically in delivery driving or route driving within local or OTR (Over the Road) routes.
- Demonstrated ability to operate manual transmission trucks safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of logistics cargo handling procedures, including load & unload techniques for various types of freight such as refrigerated goods or hazardous materials.
- Familiarity with GPS navigation tools and route planning software for optimized deliveries.
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT regulations, and hazardous materials regulations to ensure compliance at all times.
- Ability to handle manual tasks related to truck loading/unloading and cargo securing confidently.
- Excellent driving record with a focus on safety and adherence to all traffic laws.
Pay: $26.61 - $32.04 per hour
