Shift: 2nd M-F 2:30pm-10:30pm
Rate: $22-24/hr
Position Summary
The Batch Maker is responsible for safely and accurately manufacturing batches according to formulas, work instructions, and quality standards. This role ensures raw materials are properly handled, products meet specifications, and the production area remains clean, organized, and compliant with safety and GMP requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive batch assignments and production priorities from the Shift Supervisor or Shift Manager.
- Verify that all required raw materials are available before beginning production.
- Prepare batches accurately by following formulas and work instructions.
- Immediately report any batching errors to the Shift Manager before continuing production.
- Log materials and transfer batches to designated locations as required.
- Make batch adjustments as directed by the Quality Lab to ensure products meet specifications.
- Perform sanitation procedures in accordance with GMP and company standards.
- Transfer completed batches to storage or production as needed.
- Properly label and tag finished products in drums or totes for production or customer shipment.
- Maintain 5S standards by keeping the work area clean, organized, and safe throughout each shift.
- Follow all established safety procedures and safe work practices.
- Understand and comply with OTC manufacturing processes and quality requirements.
- Return unused raw materials to designated storage areas after Quality Assurance releases completed batches.
- Keep the chemical storage area clean, organized, and properly maintained.
- Ensure drums are completely emptied before placing them in the empty drum storage area.
- Load empty drum trailers as needed.
- Operate forklifts and drum dumpers safely and efficiently.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred (minimum 10th-grade math and reading proficiency required).
- At least 6 months of manufacturing or production experience, preferably in a liquid production environment.
- Basic mechanical skills, including line hookups and product transfers.
- Ability to read and follow formulas, work instructions, and production documentation.
- Ability to accurately calculate, weigh, and add ingredients.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Knowledge of safe handling practices for hazardous chemicals and raw materials.
- Forklift certification (or ability to obtain certification).
- Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
- Climb, lift, and dump materials into production tanks.
- Stand and walk for extended periods, up to the entire shift.
- Work in environments with dust, chemicals, dyes, fragrances, and perfumes while following required safety procedures.
