Job Summary
The Bartender is responsible for providing friendly, professional, and efficient beverage service to residents and guests throughout the community’s various dining and amenity locations. This position prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, maintains a clean and well-stocked bar area, processes transactions accurately, and helps create an enjoyable and welcoming experience.
The Bartender may work in both indoor and outdoor environments, including clubhouses, cafés, pool areas, event spaces, and other community amenities. This position works closely with the Food & Beverage management team and other service staff to ensure consistent service standards, responsible alcohol service, and smooth daily operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Provide friendly, attentive, and professional beverage service to residents and guests.
· Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes, service standards, and guest preferences.
· Maintain thorough knowledge of beverage offerings, including cocktails, beer, wine, specialty beverages, and non-alcoholic selections.
· Take beverage orders accurately and enter orders into the point-of-sale system.
· Verify identification and follow all applicable requirements for responsible alcohol service.
· Monitor alcohol consumption and promptly notify management of any concerns regarding intoxication or inappropriate behavior.
· Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked bar and beverage service area.
· Prepare the bar and beverage stations for daily operations, events, and special functions.
· Maintain appropriate levels of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, ice, and other bar supplies.
· Assist with receiving, storing, rotating, and monitoring beverage inventory and notify management when supplies need to be replenished.
· Process guest payments accurately and follow established cash-handling, point-of-sale, and closing procedures.
· Maintain accurate records and follow established procedures for beverage usage, waste, and inventory control.
· Provide beverage service in both indoor and outdoor locations, including pool and amenity areas, as assigned.
· Assist with setup, service, and breakdown for community events, private functions, and other special activities.
· Communicate effectively with Servers, kitchen staff, and management to coordinate guest service and ensure timely order fulfillment.
· Respond to guest questions and concerns professionally and notify management when additional assistance is needed.
· Follow all food safety, sanitation, responsible alcohol service, safety, and company policies and procedures.
· Maintain a professional appearance and courteous demeanor at all times.
· Assist with opening and closing duties, including stocking, cleaning, securing the bar and beverage areas, and completing assigned side work.
· Support other food and beverage operations as needed based on business levels, events, weather, and community activities.
· Perform other duties as assigned based on the needs of the community and management.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
· Previous bartending, food and beverage, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred.
· Knowledge of standard beverage preparation, bar service, and responsible alcohol service practices.
· Strong customer service and communication skills.
· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
· Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately handle orders, payments, and inventory.
· Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
· Dependable, punctual, and willing to assist with a variety of food and beverage responsibilities.
· Food safety and responsible alcohol service certification, as required by the position and applicable law.
· Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Physical Requirements
· Frequently stand and walk for extended periods.
· Regularly bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb stairs.
· Regularly lift, carry, push, and pull beverage supplies, cases, ice, kegs, equipment, and other items weighing up to 50 pounds.
· Safely carry trays, glassware, and beverages throughout indoor and outdoor service areas.
· Perform repetitive motions, including reaching, pouring, mixing, lifting, and handling bar equipment.
· Work in varying temperatures and weather conditions when assigned to outdoor amenities.
· Remain physically active throughout the workday.
· Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Work Environment
This position operates in a large, active, resort-style community with multiple food and beverage service locations. Work may take place in clubhouses, cafés, event spaces, pool areas, outdoor gathering spaces, and other community amenities. The Bartender routinely transitions between indoor and outdoor environments and may be exposed to varying temperatures, moderate to high noise levels, cleaning chemicals, glassware, and changing activity levels.
The position requires frequent interaction with residents, guests, coworkers, vendors, and management and requires a consistently friendly, professional, and service-oriented approach.
