Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Instrument Technician to join our maintenance team at a high-production cement plant. This role is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and calibrating a wide range of instrumentation and control systems that ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
Install, inspect, maintain, and repair process instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters
Calibrate and troubleshoot control loops, analyzers, and field devices
Maintain and support PLC and HMI systems
Diagnose and repair electrical and instrumentation faults in a timely manner
Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on plant equipment
Interpret technical manuals
Assist with system upgrades, shutdowns, and plant improvement projects
Ensure compliance with all safety standards, procedures, and regulations
Document maintenance activities and maintain accurate records
Qualifications
Requires enrollment in and successful completion of advanced PLC programming school
Requires Department of Labor Electrical Journeyman’s Certificate
Must demonstrate the ability to use digital meter to check power and continuity of circuits
Must pass basic electrical aptitude test.
Must pass basic motor starter connection test.
Must be able to run conduit and pull wires to motors, switches and other field devices.
Must be able to troubleshoot and repair motor starters and VFDs – 120V to 4160V.
Must demonstrate ability to write and troubleshoot PLC programs and hardware (Allen-Bradley)
Must be able to install, operate, and repair instrumentation.
Must be able to use personal computers with designated software (Word, Excel, RSLogix, ControlLogix, etc)
Must be able to perform other electrical/mechanical tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation and control systems
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Willingness to work Monday-Friday 6:30 AM to 3 PM, overtime, off shifts, weekends; and respond to call-outs
Preferred Skills
3+ years of experience in an industrial environment (cement, mining, or heavy manufacturing preferred)
