Position Title: 4-H Friday Friends Program Coordinator
Immediate Supervisor: 4-H/FCS Extension Educator & 4-H Program Coordinator
Overall Supervisor: 4-H/FCS Extension Educator
Minimum Education: High School Diploma
Starting Wage: $15.00 per hour
Typical Work Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Fridays during the school year with additional hours for prep and planning. Maximum hours worked per week is 18 hours.
Job Summary:
Coordinate the 4-H Friday Friends program in the county; be responsible for recruiting, training, and supervising volunteers; provide leadership in developing, planning, and conducting programs that deliver youth education in, but not limited to, science, technology, math, history, and art.
Position Functions:
- Teach youth development content and selected subject matter.
- Promotion and marketing of 4-H Friday Friends Program and other youth development activities.
- Coordinate and plan county-wide 4-H Friday Friends events.
- Develop, promote, and provide programs for youth ensuring programs are educational, safe and fun.
- Maintain and update membership enrollment database. Collect membership fees. Submit funds to accountant for deposit.
- Organize and maintain 4-H Friday Friends supply closet, office space, and resource materials.
- Responsible for the inventory of the 4-H Friday Friends curriculum and program supplies.
- Write, edit, and publish quarterly press releases for local media to promote 4-H Friday Friends programs in the community. Also, write bi-monthly program updates to be included in our county bi-monthly newsletter.
- Manage 4-H Friday Friends social media page.
- Ensure compliance with the University of Idaho policy on non-discrimination stated in the University of Idaho Faculty Handbook, Section 3050.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Experience Required:
High School Diploma or 4 years of service in similar field. Must be able to work and communicate effectively with University of Idaho staff, county faculty, volunteers, youth (ages five through eighteen), and the general public. Must possess valid Idaho driver’s license. Must possess high degree of organizational skills to plan, coordinate, and supervise activities. Ability to perform essential duties efficiently and accurately with or without reasonable accommodations and without endangering incumbent or other employees. Ability to interact and work with support staff. Required excellent verbal and written communication skills, public relations abilities, experience working with children and adult volunteers. Knowledge of educational youth programs. Ability to effectively use information technology including a variety of Windows-based computer software programs and typing skills of 30-40WPM. Ability to use other general office and presentation equipment. High degree of performance required. Must be able to work effectively with little supervision and coordinate activities simultaneously.
NOTE: The University of Idaho Extension System and 4-H Friday Friends Program will act in accordance with Idaho Code and Idaho’s Child Protection policy in conducting educational programs for youth. Individuals in this position must submit a release for a background check through the Idaho State Patrol Bureau of Criminal Identification.
