Mentoring With Magic Home Services is looking for a Direct Support Professional and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, and other special needs. Duties
- This role will be in the community setting, transporting an Individual from school to home while providing two to three hours worth of support in the community.
- Implement individualized care plans tailored to each person's needs.
- Provide transportation assistance for appointments or community activities using personal or agency vehicles.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning duties and ensuring compliance with health standards.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations with first aid or CPR when necessary, ensuring resident safety at all times.
- Engage in patient observation to detect early signs of health issues or behavioral changes, communicating findings with healthcare teams as needed.
- Support residents with assisted living activities such as helping with medication reminders, light housekeeping tasks, and social engagement to promote quality of life.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities enhances your ability to provide specialized support.
- Certification in first aid and CPR, clean background check, and a negative TB test, are required; additional certifications such as medication administration are a plus.
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and teamwork are essential.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely while maintaining patient comfort is necessary.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality and proper documentation practices.
