Affect Academics is a learning center in Freeport, Maine that designs therapeutic learning interventions using techniques based in cognitive neuroscience. We are now hiring education professionals who are interested in being part of a collaborative team that leverages proven research to improve student learning.
Affect Academics has part-time hourly positions available for a math and literacy teacher for grades K-8. Hours and days are negotiable but will require availability in the after school hours and summers.
Job description:
- Work with students one on one; flexible hours with availability 3-5 days/week
- Able and available to teach both remotely and in person
- Mount effective early reading/math interventions
- Train in therapeutic techniques and apply in routine work
- Meet weekly with other team members to discuss student progress
- Keep abreast of current research in cognitive neuroscience by reading both scientific and lay articles/books
- Other responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
- Teaching experience in reading and math
- Regular availability during after school hours (minimum 3 afternoons/week) and summers (availability during the school day preferred but not required)
- Knowledge of or interest in Universal Design for Learning, neurodiversity, strengths-based learning
- Interest in brain development and research-based education
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of or interest in cognitive behavioral therapy, educational therapy, or related fields
- The flexibility needed to succeed in an entrepreneurial environment
- Master’s degree in education preferred but not required

Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
