JOB
The Community Services Department is seeking highly energetic, customer service oriented individuals to join its team on a part-time, seasonal basis in the following areas: Teen Center, Day Camp, Parks and Playgrounds. Actual work hours and schedule vary according to program and participant needs, and assigned schedules will include weekends, evenings and/or holidays. NOTE: The Summer season begins May 18, 2019, and extends for 8 to 10 weeks after. Summer programs are contingent upon City Council appropriation of program funding for fiscal year 2019-2020.
Some of the typical duties of the Recreation Aide include but are not limited to the following:
- Assists in sports, arts & crafts, games, hiking, and play activities for youth
- Assists in the organization and delivery of various Community Services programs or services
- Assures the safety of participants through proper use of equipment and enforcement of rules and regulations
- Assists in supervision of playgrounds, community centers and park areas
- Sets up and takes down tables, chairs & equipment for classes, programs and special events
- May complete written reports including facility checks and attendance reports Performs other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Follow oral and written instructions; work well with children, teens and/or adults; enforce safety regulations and rules; establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public; set up or take down tables, chairs and other equipment for classes or special events; perform various tasks for extended periods of time requiring physical strength, dexterity and endurance including standing, walking, running, crawling, bending, lifting and climbing; must be able to lift 40 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds and get from location to location during the course of doing business. Previous experience or volunteer experience with youth is highly desirable.
Special Requirements:
Possession of a Class C California Driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record during the course of employment.
Selection Process:
