Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Wound Care and Infection Preventionist to join our team. As a Wound Care and Infection Preventionist, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating our Infection Control and Prevention Program, as well as assessing and controlling the development and transmission of communicable diseases and infections.
Major Responsibilities:
Act as a liaison between the Wound Specialist Physician and the nursing staff
Participate in the development and achievement of Wound Care Program and objectives
Provide educational programming and staff development functions
Assist in the implementation of and monitor compliance with policies, procedures, and standards of practice
Collaborate with the Interdisciplinary Team to promote wound healing
Provide direct resident care in the assessment, treatment, and follow-up for wound management
Assist in the implementation of an individualized treatment plan for each assigned resident
Plan, organize, develop, and direct the overall operation of our Infection Control and Prevention Program in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations
Help prevent and control the development and transmission of communicable diseases and infections
Collaborate with center leadership and the medical director to develop, implement, evaluate, and re-evaluate the annual infection control and prevention goals and plans
Assess employees with open lesions or communicable disease for ability to work and any limitations or restrictions
Record, track, and trend surveillance and investigation of infections; and actions taken to prevent and control the spread of infections and report to the center QAPI committee
Provide innovative, responsible healthcare with the creation and implementation of new ideas and concepts that continually improve systems and processes to achieve superior results
Qualifications:
Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with a minimum of a Nursing Diploma and associated license from an accredited college or university
Certification in Infection Control as specified by Appendix PP at F880 is required prior to assuming the role in infection prevention and control
