We are looking for a Medical Assistant to join our dermatology practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing patient care, performing administrative duties, and assisting with medical procedures. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and a strong knowledge of dermatology and medical terminology is preferred. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Medical Assistant to join a fast-paced and growing practice.
We also offer a Clinical Dermatology Bridge Program for gap year pre-med or pre-physician's assistant students. We offer comprehensive clinical training and mentorship.
Primary Roles/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examination, keeping the rooms neat & clean.
- Assist providers in the examination and treatment of patients.
- Perform routine medical tasks such as taking vital signs and preparing specimens for laboratory tests.
- Accurate and complete recording of patient's medical history, along with scribing visit notes, treatment plans, telephone calls, pharmacy interactions and other medical information.
- Provide patient education on skin care and other dermatological topics.
- Assist with minor surgical procedures such as suturing, cryotherapy, excisions and biopsies.
- Assist providers in examing and treating patients, handling instruments and materials or performing such tasks as setting up surgical trays, administering injections or removing sutures.
- Assist with the ordering of medications and supplies.
- Receive lab results; using proper documentation, tracking and notification of results to providers as per office procedure.
Required Qualifications:
- The MA must minimally have a high school diploma or equivalent, have successfully completed a Medical Assistant training program or higher. Registered or Certified Medical Assistant accomplishment is preferred.
- OR
- Completion of a bachelor's degree program in a pre-med or pre-physician's assistant track.
- Previous dermatology experience preferred.
- Experience with EMA software a definite plus.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment and able to work well within a team.
- Professionalism and strong customer service skills is a must.
- Must be able to occasionally lift or move at least 20 lbs. and stand for prolonged periods.
- Pay rate will be based on qualifications and experience.
