Overview
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our Asphalt Co., providing expert maintenance and repair services for a wide range of heavy-duty equipment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working with diesel engines, heavy machinery, and various industrial systems.
Duties
- Diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and air brake systems on heavy equipment including tractors, excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery.
- Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, alignment, and shocks & struts replacement.
- Utilize schematics and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using welding, soldering, and power tools.
- Conduct inspections of heavy equipment to identify potential issues before failure occurs.
- Repair or replace vehicle components including brakes, HVAC systems, and electrical wiring.
- Maintain detailed service records and ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications.
- Assist with assembly or disassembly of machinery during repairs or upgrades.
- Operate heavy equipment for testing purposes when necessary.
Skills
- Proven experience in heavy equipment service environments.
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals for complex machinery.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance tools.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Experience working with diverse machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractor-trailers, and farm equipment.
- Knowledge of fabrication techniques including welding and soldering.
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems, air brake systems, suspension components, HVAC systems, and tire services.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with strong customer service orientation.
- Mechanical or automotive repair certification is preferred; relevant experience is essential for success in this role.
