Position Summary
Energy Management Services (EMS) is seeking an experienced Senior Low Voltage Technician to install, troubleshoot, service, and maintain commercial and industrial low-voltage systems. This position is ideal for a highly skilled technician who can work independently in the field, lead other technicians when needed, and take ownership of projects from installation through testing and turnover.
The Senior Low Voltage Technician will work closely with project managers, customers, subcontractors, and field personnel to ensure installations are completed safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications, applicable codes, and EMS quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and service low-voltage systems.
- Perform installation and maintenance of systems including:
- Structured cabling and network infrastructure
- Fiber optic cabling
- Access control systems
- CCTV / video surveillance systems
- Intrusion detection and security systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Data and communications systems
- Other low-voltage and specialty systems
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, and project documentation.
- Perform cable pulling, routing, dressing, labeling, termination, and testing.
- Terminate and test copper and fiber cabling using appropriate testing equipment.
- Troubleshoot system, wiring, connectivity, and equipment issues and determine appropriate corrective actions.
- Perform device installation, panel termination, equipment mounting, and system checkout.
- Lead and provide technical direction to technicians and helpers in the field as needed.
- Coordinate daily field activities to ensure work is completed efficiently and according to schedule.
- Perform quality-control inspections and identify deficiencies before project turnover.
- Maintain accurate documentation, including test results, redlines, service reports, and project closeout information.
- Communicate professionally with customers, project managers, general contractors, and other trades.
- Ensure work complies with NEC, NFPA, manufacturer requirements, project specifications, and applicable local codes.
- Follow all company and site-specific safety requirements.
- Maintain company tools, equipment, and assigned materials.
- Support commissioning, system startup, testing, and customer turnover activities.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on low-voltage experience in commercial, industrial, or similar environments.
- Strong experience with structured cabling and multiple low-voltage system types.
- Ability to independently install, terminate, test, and troubleshoot low-voltage systems.
- Strong understanding of copper and fiber cabling installation and testing.
- Ability to read and work from construction drawings, specifications, riser diagrams, and wiring schematics.
- Experience using low-voltage testing and troubleshooting equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose problems and complete repairs with minimal supervision.
- Previous experience leading technicians, crews, or field installations strongly preferred.
- Strong communication and customer-service skills.
- Ability to manage priorities and work effectively in active construction and customer environments.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability and willingness to travel as required by project needs.
- Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, or extended shifts when required by project schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
- BICSI certifications or training.
- NICET certification or fire alarm experience.
- Manufacturer certifications related to access control, CCTV, structured cabling, or security systems.
- Experience with fiber splicing and OTDR testing.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience working in large commercial, industrial, mission-critical, healthcare, manufacturing, or data center environments.
- Experience overseeing crews and coordinating work with other trades.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry tools, materials, and equipment commonly associated with low-voltage installations.
- Ability to work from ladders and lifts and in elevated or confined work areas when required.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, kneel, and perform physical work for extended periods.
- Ability to work in active construction, commercial, and industrial environments.
Pay: $27.84 - $42.00 per hour
