At P2L Playhouse, we believe young children learn best through joyful exploration, meaningful relationships, and creative expression. We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and caring Lead Toddler Teacher who enjoys working with children ages 2–3.
Position Summary
The Lead Toddler Teacher is responsible for leading a safe, nurturing, and engaging classroom for toddlers ages 2–3. This role includes lesson planning, classroom management, child supervision, family communication, daily care routines, and maintaining a clean and organized learning environment.
Essential Functions
- Create and implement developmentally appropriate weekly lesson plans.
- Lead play-based activities that support language, movement, creativity, early learning, and independence.
- Maintain active supervision indoors and outdoors.
- Establish consistent classroom routines and transitions.
- Observe and document children’s developmental progress.
- Communicate professionally with parents and guardians.
- Lead and support Assistant Teachers and Floaters assigned to the classroom.
- Assist with diapering, potty training, toileting, handwashing, meals, snacks, and rest time.
- Clean and sanitize toys, tables, learning materials, diapering areas, floors, and high-touch surfaces.
- Complete classroom setup, daily cleanup, and closing responsibilities.
- Follow all licensing, health, safety, sanitation, and program requirements.
Qualifications
- At least two years of experience working with toddlers or preschool-aged children in a licensed childcare setting.
- Experience working with children ages 2–3 strongly preferred.
- Experience creating and implementing early childhood lesson plans.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- Comfortable with diapering, potty training, cleaning, and daily care responsibilities.
- Completion of required childcare and professional development training.
Physical and Work Expectations
- Must be able to lift, carry, or assist children and materials weighing up to 55 pounds.
- Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, and sit on the floor throughout the day.
- Must be able to actively participate in indoor and outdoor activities.
- Must be able to perform regular classroom cleaning and sanitizing duties.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the role with or without reasonable accommodation.
