Position: District Wide Maintenance Person
8 hours per day/40 hours per week

Qualifications:
1. High School Diploma or HiSET
2. Demonstrated knowledge of carpentry, electrical, and plumbing equipment and methods.
3. Excellent documented carpentry skills, including Finish and Cabinetry work.
4. Demonstrated ability to supervise the work of others.
5. Demonstrated ability to complete projects in a timely manner.
6. Must hold and maintain a valid commercial license with School Bus Endorsement with no serious violations.
7. Must comply with and meet all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
8. Must maintain water operator and pellet boiler licenses.
9. Certifications as determined by management.
10. Must be able to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds and must be physically able to assist an injured student off the bus in an emergency.
11. Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board.
Reports to: Support Services Manager/Transportation Director
Job Goal: To maintain the physical school plant in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of it may be made at all times.
Performance Responsibilities:
1. Examine and perform maintenance and repair of RSU 54 buildings, facilities, general operating equipment, grounds and parking lots on a regular basis and recommend priorities and estimate costs on repair projects. Perform regular preventive maintenance.
2. Will be required to have a bus driver's license and will drive as assigned.
3. Order materials as needed and make recommendations of supplies and equipment for purchase.
4. Must have documented previous experience of successful, effective and safe operation of heavy equipment (i.e. tractor, front end loader, tractor mower and zero-turn mower, snow removal equipment), light equipment (i.e. weed-whacker, power brushes, and push mowers).
5. Will be required to use, service and maintain tractors, mowers, snow blowers, paint sprayers and other maintenance type equipment.
6. Should have a basic working knowledge of fields and grounds maintenance and sports activities. Will be required to mow and repair sports fields and grounds. Prepare fields for games.
7. Will be required to have training in the inspection of asbestos and prepare reports.
8. Will be required to have training for and perform the following:
a. State required water tests.
b. OSHA and fire inspections
c. Repair cleaning equipment
d. Routine maintenance and repair of HVAC systems
e. Minor maintenance on fire, smoke, septic, and other systems
f. Door and window hardware repair
g. General school building maintenance and repairs.
h. Ability to operate and work at heights on a scissor lift or high ladder.
9. Maintain a regular schedule to ensure that daily responsibilities are performed, have regular attendance and be punctual for assignments.
10. Maintain the poise of a disciplined person. Be tactful in dealing with others, resourceful and self-reliant, demonstrate respect for self and others, willingly accept suggestions and follow instructions, follow the proper channels of command and exercise confidentiality of privileged information relating to school and personal matters.
11. Set a good example in the areas of personal hygiene, neatness and propriety of dress, courtesy, consideration, cooperation, and proper use of language. Vulgar or sexually suggestive language will not be permitted at any time.
12. All other related duties as deemed necessary by the Support Services Manager.
