Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Pre/Post Op Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for preparing patients for surgery, monitoring their recovery, and ensuring a smooth transition through all phases of perioperative care. Your expertise will help enhance patient safety, comfort, and overall experience in our specialized ophthalmology setting. Pay based on experience!
Responsibilities
- Assess patient readiness for surgery by reviewing medical histories, verifying consent, and conducting preoperative assessments using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) .
- Administer medications following aseptic techniques and hospital protocols.
- Monitor patients’ vital signs, oxygen levels, and overall condition during preoperative and postoperative periods, ensuring prompt response to any signs of distress or complications.
- Provide patient education on postoperative care instructions, medication administration, pain management strategies, and discharge planning.
- Document all patient interactions accurately in medical records while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes.
Qualifications
- Valid RN license with current state licensure; experience with medical-surgical nursing preferred but not required.
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to ophthalmology and perioperative care.
- Proficiency in IV insertion, medication administration.
- Ability to perform physical examinations, vital signs assessment, and patient care planning efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate patients effectively about postoperative care and recovery processes.

Pay: $36.00 - $42.00 per hour
