Structural Engineering Designer
Direct Hire | Full-Time
Salary: $50,000 – $65,000 per year (based on experience)
Cornerstone Staffing Solutions is hiring a Structural Engineering Designer for a direct-hire opportunity with a leading manufacturer in Duffield, VA. This role is responsible for the design, development, modification, and documentation of shelter drawings and structural systems while collaborating closely with engineering, production, and sales teams.
Job Summary
The Structural Engineering Designer is responsible for preparing accurate structural and shelter design drawings, performing engineering calculations, and supporting manufacturing projects from design through production. This position works on projects of moderate to significant complexity and completes assignments with minimal supervision.
Essential Job Functions
- Prepare detailed structural and shelter design drawings and ensure accuracy
- Interpret bid letters, customer specifications, customer-supplied drawings, and electrical designer drawings
- Perform structural calculations using standard engineering procedures
- Prepare work orders and detailed Bills of Material (BOMs) while drawings are in progress
- Work on projects of significant complexity, primarily single concrete shelters, with exposure to lightweight metal and multi-piece shelters
- Complete projects with minimal supervision and meet established deadlines
- Assist other designers and provide technical guidance as needed
- Review, check, and markup team members’ drawings as required
- Provide technical assistance to factory personnel, sales teams, and customers
- Travel as needed based on project requirements
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering preferred (not required)
Experience:
- 1–4 years of structural engineering or design experience
Certifications / Software:
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit
Knowledge & Skills:
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Word, and Excel
- Strong knowledge of algebra, geometry, and engineering formulas
- Technical aptitude in Structural, Architectural, and Mechanical disciplines
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
