We are seeking an experienced Pipeline Weld Boss / Welding Foreman to lead welding operations on natural gas distribution pipeline projects throughout New York and the Northeast. This role is ideal for a highly skilled pipeline welder who also has strong pipeline layout, fit-up, and crew leadership experience.
The successful candidate will oversee daily welding operations, supervise field crews, coordinate with inspectors and management, and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with pipeline industry standards and utility specifications.
Position Summary
The Pipeline Weld Boss / Welding Foreman is responsible for supervising pipeline welding crews performing natural gas distribution work including main installation, tie-ins, repairs, and related pipeline construction activities. This position requires hands-on knowledge of pipeline welding procedures, field layout, and utility construction standards.
This individual will serve as the field lead for welding operations and must be capable of maintaining productivity, quality, and safety while working closely with project management, inspectors, and utility representatives.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily pipeline welding operations
- Lead and direct welding crews in the field
- Perform and verify pipeline layout and fit-up, including regulator station builds
- Read and interpret plans, utility specifications, and construction drawings
- Ensure compliance with API 1104, client specifications, and company procedures
- Coordinate with inspectors and NDT personnel
- Maintain weld quality and production standards
- Assist with scheduling manpower and equipment
- Troubleshoot field issues and support project completion goals
- Enforce company safety policies and jobsite standards
- Perform hands-on welding when necessary
Qualifications
- 5+ years of pipeline welding experience in the natural gas industry
- Previous foreman, lead welder, or weld boss experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of natural gas distribution pipeline construction
- Experience with pipeline layout, fit-up, and field measurements
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Knowledge of API 1104 and pipeline welding procedures
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
- Current welding certifications or operator qualifications
- Experience working with gas utility companies such as National Grid, Con Edison, or Central Hudson Gas & Electric
- OSHA 30 certification
- CDL license
- Experience supervising multiple crews
Work Environment
- Outdoor construction environment
- Local and regional travel may be required
- Full-time position with overtime as needed
Pay: $48.00 - $52.00 per hour
