Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and patient-focused Medical Receptionist/Assistant to join our healthcare team. This role is essential in providing exceptional administrative and clerical support within a busy medical office environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer skills, knowledge of Eclinical EMR systems, and excellent patient service abilities to ensure smooth clinic operations and positive patient experiences.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage front desk operations, including multi-line phone systems and patient check-in/check-out procedures
- Schedule appointments using EMR systems such as eClinicalWorks.
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification for Medicare, Medicaid, and other providers
- Collect payments and perform medical billing and coding tasks including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding, ensuring accurate documentation review
- Maintain and update patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and health information management standards
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting medical history and updating care plans
- Take phone calls and do basic screening and triage on phone calls
- Manage documentation review processes and ensure accurate data entry using Microsoft Office and other office management tools
- Support medical administrative functions such as filing, faxing, scanning, and maintaining organized medical records
- Provide exceptional patient service by addressing inquiries professionally with proper phone etiquette and providing clear instructions for follow-up care or appointments
Experience
- Prior clinic or medical office experience preferred, especially in medical office settings
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Eclinicalworks.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing practices
- Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and private insurance plans
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) and data entry (10 key typing)
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to assist diverse patient populations
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and office management tasks
- Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment
