Duties
- Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
- Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, ensuring accurate medical documentation in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
- Support medication administration under supervision, following proper aseptic techniques and HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality.
- Provide specialized care for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or memory impairments through tailored approaches like memory care techniques.
- Help with complex clinical procedures such as catheter care, phlebotomy (blood draws), and infection control practices in accordance with hospital or clinic protocols.
- Document patient interactions thoroughly in medical records while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in acute care, ICU, emergency medicine, behavioral health, or post-acute settings to deliver comprehensive patient service.
Skills
- Proven experience working in diverse healthcare environments including hospitals (Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care settings.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, and basic life support (BLS) procedures.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Cerner for accurate documentation.
- Experience caring for individuals with disabilities or behavioral health needs; expertise in dementia and Alzheimer's care is highly valued.
- Ability to perform complex clinical tasks such as IV insertion (if certified), catheter care, and infection control using aseptic techniques.
- Excellent caregiving skills combined with a compassionate approach to patient service across pediatrics, geriatrics, or behavioral health populations.
