Job Overview
The Fire Sprinkler Apprentice assists licensed Fire Sprinkler Technicians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of fire sprinkler systems. This entry-level position provides hands on training to develop the skills needed to become a licensed Fire Sprinkler Technician. The apprentice works on commercial, industrial, and residential projects while learning safety standards, industry codes, and best practices. This role is ideal for individuals who are mechanically inclined, dependable, and interested in building a long-term career in fire protection. The Fire Sprinkler Apprentice supports experienced sprinkler technicians with daily operations related to fire suppression systems. The apprentice learns proper installation techniques, and material handling while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist in the installation of fire sprinkler systems, including piping, hangers, valves, and sprinkler heads
- Carry, load, and organize tools, materials, and equipment
- Measure, cut, thread, and assemble pipe under supervision
- Read and interpret basic blueprints and layout drawings
- Maintain a clean and safe job site
- Follow OSHA, NFPA, and company safety standards
- Support troubleshooting and repair activities
- Complete required apprenticeship training and coursework
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Willingness to enroll in and complete apprenticeship training
- Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments
- Comfortable working at heights, in tight spaces, and outdoors
- Ability to lift up to 50+ pounds regularly
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability
- Basic hand and power tool knowledge (or willingness to learn)
