Summary
Liberty Corner Elementary School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Reading Specialist for a full-time leave replacement position from September 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in literacy education and a commitment to fostering a love of reading among students. This role involves collaborating with teachers, supporting students with diverse reading needs, and implementing effective reading interventions to enhance literacy skills across all grade levels.
Responsibilities
- Assess and evaluate students’ reading abilities to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement individualized reading intervention plans tailored to meet the needs of each student.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate reading strategies into the curriculum and support classroom instruction.
- Provide professional development and resources for teachers to enhance their literacy instruction practices.
- Monitor and track student progress, adjusting interventions as necessary to ensure student growth.
- Conduct small group and one-on-one reading sessions to provide targeted support.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and strategies for supporting literacy development at home.
- Organize and participate in literacy-related events and initiatives to promote a culture of reading within the school community.
- Stay current with research and best practices in literacy education and implement new strategies as appropriate.
- Collaborate with special education staff to support students with learning disabilities in their reading development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Reading, Literacy, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification with a Reading Specialist endorsement or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in teaching reading and literacy, preferably at the elementary level.
- Strong understanding of various reading assessment tools and intervention strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters student growth.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
