The Education Specialist works with clients who have history of mental illness, trauma and sexual offenses. Responsibilities include planning and implementation of a variety of activities to enhance the quality of lives for clients at Fulton State Hospital.
Responsibilities - What you’ll do
Fulton State Hospital is looking for an Education Specialist to meet the academic needs of adults with mental illness and sex offending behaviors. Attention and guidance about Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) requirements is given for those to whom it applies. The Education Specialist will be responsible for providing academic screenings and education groups, facilitating rehabilitative groups, providing case management services, and offering input about individual clients to the interdisciplinary treatment team.
Qualifications - All you need for success
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Current, valid teacher certification issued by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification in special education
- 2 years of professional teaching experience as a special education teacher
Lack of post‐secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
