- The Opportunity: Long-Term Impact & Consistent Hours
Are you looking for a purpose-driven, part-time role where your work directly improves the life of a child and supports a local family?
As a Respite Care Specialist with Heroes Unbound, you provide vital, specialized care that allows primary caregivers to take a necessary, well-deserved break. We are currently seeking a dedicated individual for a specific client match in the Minocqua/Woodruff area requiring exactly 15 hours per week. This is a professional human services role focused on fostering a child's development, building life skills, and promoting community integration.
What You'll Do & The Impact You'll Make:
- Skill Development Coach: You’ll help your assigned client master "Daily Living Skills" through hands-on practice. This might look like teaching them how to follow a visual recipe, practicing how to sort laundry, or learning how to use a microwave safely.
- Community & Recreational Companion: We want our kids active! You’ll guide them through local spaces—whether spending a sunny afternoon at Torpy Park, walking a stretch of the Bearskin State Trail, or participating in an afternoon activity at the Minocqua Public Library.
- Financial Literacy: You may take a trip to a local shop to help the child practice identifying coins, making change, and staying within a small budget for a treat.
Career Structure & Hours:
- Consistent Schedule: This position offers a steady 15 hours per week working directly with one specific client family, allowing you to build a meaningful, impactful relationship over time.
- Seasonal Shifts: * Summer: Offers flexible daytime hours to fit the summer break.
- School Year: Once school resumes, the 15 hours will shift strictly to after-school, evenings, and weekends. Weekday daytime hours are not available year-round.
- Flexibility: You will collaborate directly with the client family to lock in a weekly schedule that works best for both of your routines.
Requirements & The "Hard Line" on Safety (State Mandated):
- Mandatory Background Check: To ensure the safety of the vulnerable population we serve, all applicants must pass a state-mandated comprehensive criminal background check. By Wisconsin law, certain convictions are permanently disqualifying. These regulations are strictly enforced by the state; we have no authority to grant exceptions or overrides.
- Transportation: Must have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and current car insurance to safely transport the client to local community activities.
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 per hour
Benefits:
- Flexible schedule
- Mileage reimbursement
Work Location: In person
