[HYBRID] Linux Automation Engineer (hardware exp. req.) Description
Our client, a technology solutions provider, is seeking a Linux Automation Engineer to join their team in Littleton, MA. This newly created position will play a key role in expanding automation capabilities across global production and infrastructure environments. This role sits at the intersection of software automation and physical systems, developing solutions that support server provisioning, OS deployment, validation, and production workflows. The ideal candidate will have experience building automation using Python and Bash while working within hardware, manufacturing, systems integration, or similar infrastructure environments. This is a highly visible opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, improving processes, and building scalable solutions from the ground up. The team is looking for someone who can bring new ideas, provide technical direction, and help shape the long-term evolution of their automation environment.
Important Note: This position offers WFH flexibility (2–3 days/week) after onboarding, which typically lasts around 6 months. During the onboarding period, onsite work in Littleton, MA is required each day.
[HYBRID] Linux Automation Engineer (hardware exp. req.) Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable automation solutions using Python, Bash, and related tools
- Develop workflows for server provisioning, deployment, validation, and configuration
- Create tools to streamline hardware configuration, testing, and production processes
- Support BIOS, firmware, and operating system deployment automation initiatives
- Troubleshoot Linux systems, hardware, networking, and automation-related issues
- Partner with engineering teams to define automation standards and best practices
- Improve consistency, reliability, and repeatability across production environments
- Support automation initiatives across global manufacturing and system integration sites
- Identify manual processes and build scalable automation frameworks from the ground up
[HYBRID] Linux Automation Engineer (hardware exp. req.) Qualifications
- 2+ years of hardware manufacturing or hardware integration experience required
- 5+ years of experience building automation solutions within Linux environments required
- Strong development background using Python and Bash scripting required
- Experience designing and building automation solutions from the ground up, including defining requirements, developing solutions, implementation, and continuous improvement
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency in the US is required for this position due to federal government/military contract requirements
