QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current BLS at time of hire
OCCUPATIONAL EXPOURE:
Category I exposure to blood borne pathogens, frequent exposure to chemical hazards and may encounter radiation hazards.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Performs general receptionist and clerical duties as needed.
- Observes and reports patient’s status and needs.
- Answers call lights and attends to/reports patient needs.
- Transport specimens to lab if necessary.
- Assists with transfers, moves and repositioning of patients.
- Participates in turnover of pre-op/PACU bays and operating rooms.
- Assists/observes physicians and nurses during medical examinations and treatment of the patient as required.
- Transportation of instruments to and from the operating room suites.
- Assists with patient daily hygiene and general needs (i.e. water, food trays, room cleanliness, warm blankets).
- Maintains current knowledge and certification requirements (i.e. BLS).
- Attends required departmental staff meetings and trainings; gives attention to required written departmental notifications, education, and trainings.
- Attends all required facility safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety and specific job-related hazards.
- Respects and regards the dignity of all patients, families, visitors and fellow employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment.

- While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to sit, converse, and listen; use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; and to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- The employee must be able to lift and/or carry over 20 pounds on a regular basis and be able to push/pull over 25 pounds on a regular basis.
- The employee must be able to stand and/or walk at least five hours per day.
