Pre-K3-4 Teacher with ability to address neurodivergent children:
Starting Pay $13.00 / Hour
Starting pay $14.00 for those who have an active CDA.
We are looking for a qualified, dependable Teacher for children with additional needs / support needs in prek3-4 by easing them into organized education. You will teach them important elements that they will encounter soon after they enter school life. A teacher must have a great love and patience for children. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can more easily acclimate in the next level of education.
Teacher Responsibilities
- Develop a careful and creative program suitable for children
- Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, educational play, media etc.) to teach children
- Encourage children to interact with each other and resolve occasional arguments
- Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities (identify shapes, numbers or colors, do crafts etc.)
- Organize nap and supervise children to ensure they are safe at all times
- Communicate with supervisors and directors regularly to understand the children’s background and psyche
- Collaborate with other educators
- Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
- Maintain a positive attitude
Teacher Skills
- In these specialized settings, teachers focus heavily on neurodiversity-affirming practices. They generally utilize visual schedules, “first-then” boards, sensory bins, and flexible seating instead of expecting young neurodivergent children to conform to traditional, rigid classroom structures.
- Familiarity with safety and sanitation guidelines for classrooms
- Excellent communication and instructional skills
- Ability to act as mediator between children
- Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
- Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen
- CPR and First Aid Certification required. Must be obtained within 30 days of hiring.
- CDA (Preferred but not required) Must be willing to obtain.
NOTE:
- MUST be able to pass a background check, drug test, & TB test.
- Teachers with a CDA have the eligibility to make more per hour.
- This is a full time position that requires working Monday-Friday
- 8 hour shifts
- One 15 min break and one 30 min lunch break daily.
- Training is provided for new employees
