Job Overview
We are currently seeking experienced Forklift Loader Operators who specialize in handling vehicles for containerized auto export. This is a skilled position requiring prior experience working in vehicle container loading operations. Candidates without relevant vehicle loading experience will not be considered.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient loading of various types of vehicles—including sedans, SUVs, pickup trucks, and specialty vehicles—into shipping containers using forklifts, ramps, and other loading equipment. Precision, attention to detail, spatial awareness, and experience working in fast-paced export yards are essential.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate forklifts and loading equipment to move, position, and load vehicles into shipping containers.
- Verify vehicle VIN numbers against loading plans, packing lists, dock receipts, titles, and company systems prior to loading.
- Confirm vehicle identity, condition, and destination information before loading operations begin.
- Load vehicles into containers using approved loading procedures, wheel blocks, straps, chains, ramps, and other securing equipment.
- Ensure vehicles are loaded exactly according to loading plans, diagrams, and supervisor instructions.
- Inspect containers prior to loading and report any structural damage, holes, leaks, contamination, or safety concerns.
- Perform visual inspections of vehicles before, during, and after loading.
- Take clear photographic documentation of vehicles before loading, during loading when required, and after loading is completed.
- Ensure vehicles are properly secured and protected against movement, shifting, or damage during ocean transportation.
- Verify proper placement of wheel chocks, straps, tie-downs, and other securing devices.
- Ensure compliance with company loading standards, customer requirements, and international shipping regulations.
- Maintain accurate loading records and report discrepancies immediately.
- Communicate vehicle damages, missing items, loading issues, or documentation discrepancies to supervisors.
- Assist with inventory verification and vehicle location tracking within the yard.
- Work closely with supervisors, yard personnel, and loading teams to meet daily productivity targets.
- Keep work areas, containers, loading ramps, and equipment clean and organized.
- Conduct daily forklift inspections and report equipment defects, maintenance issues, or safety hazards immediately.
- Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA requirements, and yard operating policies.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Protect company property, customer vehicles, and equipment from damage.
- Maintain a professional attitude and contribute to a safe, productive work environment.
Requirements
- Mandatory previous experience in vehicle container loading for export operations.
- Ability to operate large forklifts and maneuver vehicles safely within confined container spaces.
- Must provide a list of previous employers, terminals, warehouses, or yards where vehicle container loading duties were performed.
- Strong understanding of load balancing, vehicle positioning, strapping techniques, and container configurations.
- Ability to read and follow loading plans, packing instructions, and operational procedures.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and secure heavy equipment as required.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends when operational requirements demand.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience loading vehicles for international export shipments.
- Familiarity with container shipping, port operations, and export logistics.
- Forklift certification or equivalent operating experience.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems.
- Experience working in high-volume vehicle export facilities.
- Ability to communicate in English; additional languages are a plus.
