The New Hope-Solebury School District is seeking a passionate and dedicated Anticipated Middle School Social Studies Teacher (Anticipated Contract) to join our team for the 2026-2027 School Year. The selected candidate will be responsible for designing and delivering a dynamic social studies curriculum aligned with Pennsylvania Academic Standards for History, Civics & Government, Economics, and Geography. This role emphasizes inquiry-based learning, primary source analysis, and interactive experiences that engage students and inspire a deep understanding of history and civic engagement.
Develops and revises Middle School Social Studies curriculum aligned with Pennsylvania Academic Standards (History, Civics & Government, Geography, and Economics).
Deliver Social Studies instruction through inquiry-based methods, primary source investigation, and interactive learning aligned with state and national social studies frameworks.
Coach and collaborate with classroom teachers to integrate cross-curricular literacy, historical thinking, and humanities activities into classroom instruction following the PA Core standards.
Employ a variety of instructional techniques , instructional media, and performance assessments (such as debates, research projects, and simulations) which guide the learning process toward curriculum goals and student mastery.
Uses a rich array of instructional methods , the analysis and use of student data and educational technology to improve instruction, and the ability to build professional relationships, solve problems, and plan collaboratively.
Develop and write the Middle School Social Studies curriculum in coordination with Humanities and Social Studies teachers across the district.
Organize, develop, and coordinate special Social Studies events and activities (e.g., History Day, mock elections, civic engagement projects) at the elementary/middle level.
Collaborate with the K–12 Curriculum and Technology Specialist and K–12 Social Studies Coordinator to respond to teacher inquiries about research-based instructional practices, primary source integration, and curricular issues.
Works directly with school administrators and staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of Social Studies initiatives and curriculum.
Attends professional development and training related to Social Studies, civics, and humanities programs and methodologies, staying abreast of current research and best practices.
Other duties as assigned/requested.
Pennsylvania teaching certification: Middle Level Social Studies (Grades 6–9 or 7–9 required) or Secondary Social Studies (Grades 7–12).
Classroom experience at the middle school level (preferred) .
Classroom or professional background in history, political science, civics, or related humanities disciplines (preferred) .
