We are seeking: REGISTERED NURSE (RESIDENTIAL/DETOX)
SUPERVISION: Nurse Manager
DUTIES: *Meets nursing operational standards by contributing information to the residential program for strategic plans and reviews; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; identifying system improvements.
*Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients to understand service requirements.
*Maintains nursing guidelines by working with Nurse Manager to develop and update policies and procedures.
*Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting agency and nursing division’s philosophies and standards of care; enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements and to other governing agency regulations; measuring health outcomes against standards; making or recommending adjustments.
*Completes patient care requirements by monitoring and assessing duties of RN/LPN.
*Develops staff by orienting, training, and coaching employees; communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions; adhering to agency’s policies and procedures.
*Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
*Provides information to patients and health care team by answering questions and requests.
*Resolves patient needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
*Maintains safe and clean working environment by designing and implementing procedures, rules, and regulations; calling for assistance from other care professionals.
*Protects patients and employees by developing and interpreting infection-control policies and protocols; enforcing medication monitoring, storage procedures, and controlled substance regulations.
*Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by monitoring confidential information processing.
*Maintains documentation of patient care services by auditing patient records.
*Ensures operation of medical equipment by verifying emergency equipment availability; completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; contacting Program Director for repairs; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques.
*Maintains nursing supplies inventory by studying usage reports; identifying trends; anticipating needed supplies; completes purchase orders contacting Program Director for requisitions and cost allocations.
*Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
*Maintains a cooperative relationship among Treatment Team by communicating information; responding to requests; building rapport; participating in team problem-solving methods.
*Responsible for coordinating and communicating with contracted pharmacies to facilitate accurate and timely disposing of medications.
*Coordinates with BNE and performs regular disposal of controlled medications.
QUALIFICATIONS: Has a solid understanding of substance abuse and/or co-occurring disorders. Demonstrated empathy and desire to work with those recovering from substance use disorder and/or co-occurring disorders in a trauma-informed manner. Registered Nurse with current NY State licensure. Supervisory experience in a team leader role. Work experience as a professional nurse. Current CPR certification required. Basic computer skills in word processing, e-mail, and Internet use, and experience with EHR. Must be addiction free including nicotine. Valid NYS license and method of transportation necessary.
This is an hourly nonexempt job. CARF & NHSC accredited. EOE
