SPD/OR Liaison – Sterile ProcessingPosition Overview
We are seeking an experienced SPD/OR Liaison to support the daily operations between the Sterile Processing Department and the Operating Room. This role serves as the primary point of communication between surgical services and sterile processing, ensuring instruments, equipment, and case carts are available and ready to support safe, efficient surgical procedures.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms by ensuring required instrument trays and equipment are available prior to scheduled procedures.
- Collaborate with OR leadership to anticipate instrument needs several days in advance and coordinate priorities.
- Monitor daily surgical case flow and communicate urgent or additional instrument needs to Sterile Processing staff.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and provide alternative solutions to minimize delays in surgical cases.
- Perform quality audits, including case cart, instrument tray, and operating room audits to ensure compliance with departmental standards.
- Analyze operational data to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
- Coordinate the turnaround of priority instrumentation for same-day and next-day surgical cases.
- Respond promptly to operating room requests and assist in resolving instrument-related concerns.
- Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, and process surgical instruments and equipment according to manufacturer instructions and departmental policies.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to inventory, instrument tracking, equipment requests, and quality initiatives.
- Collaborate with surgical coordinators and physicians to update instrument trays, count sheets, and specialty pick lists.
- Participate in departmental initiatives focused on improving quality, efficiency, and patient care.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Associate's Degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of Sterile Processing experience required.
- 5 years of Sterile Processing experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterilization practices, and operating room workflow.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced surgical environment.
Certifications
- CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) required.
- Additional certifications in Sterile Processing leadership, Instrument Specialist, or Endoscopy are preferred.

Pay: $30.00 - $34.00 per hour
