Position: Registered Nurse

Classification: Part-time or Full time (hourly)
Compensation Range: $34-40

Job Summary
The Registered Nurse helps ensure that all patients we serve have a compassionate and supportive experience with Hope Clinic. This position is critical to providing excellent patient care. Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide pre, intra, and post procedure nursing care.
- Perform duties of a circulating nurse in the procedure room. This includes but is not limited to:
- obtain and maintain IV access,
- administer IV sedation and other medications as ordered by physician,
- monitor vital signs and clinical status of patient,
- assist with operating room duties as needed
- Perform duties of recovery room nurse. This includes but is not limited to:
- assess the condition of the patient in the recovery room, (vital signs, etc.),
- oversee recovery room patient care
- provide postoperative medications and instructions
- Ensure patient meets discharge criteria
- Complete pre-operative assessments, as well as patient education and consent
- Assess and manage patients for various reproductive health related visits
- Administer various forms of medications through various routes as ordered by clinic physicians.
- Maintain accurate charting and documentation of all care rendered to the patient.
- Carefully handle and maintain accurate records and count of controlled substances while on duty.
- Respond appropriately to follow up calls and/or complication calls while on duty.
- Perform clinically related administrative duties such as post-procedure follow up phone calls, medical clearance, prior authorizations, and lab result follow up.
- Assist with other clinical duties such as sterilization of surgical instruments, set up and closing of procedure, recovery, and other clinical areas.
- Inform the clinic manager of needed supplies.
- Be available on call overnight by phone and/or in person at regularly scheduled intervals.
- Other assignments/tasks as indicated by the supervisor(s)
- Operate and function within the scope of licensure as set forth by the Illinois State Board of Licensing.

Qualifications
- Graduate from a certified approved school of nursing.
- Possess a current Registered Nursing license (an Illinois RN License will be required prior to starting work)
- Some professional experience; ideally at least one year of inpatient or outpatient care
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- A multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of Hope.
- Detail-oriented, organized, empathetic, and punctual.
- Ability to stay calm when patients and/or staff are stressed or upset.
- Computer skills with experience utilizing electronic medical records.
- A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic and problem-solving skills which support and enable sound decision making.

Working Conditions
- This position operates in an outpatient office setting. Working spaces will include consult rooms, procedure rooms and a recovery room.
- OSHA Blood borne Pathogen Exposure Determination: Based on the OSHA guidelines for protection against occupational exposure to hepatitis B virus (HBV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HlV), this position includes tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues.
Physical Requirements
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear in person, on the telephone, and via web conference. Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens, is necessary. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- This position requires the ability to frequently lift and move patients.
- This role requires both standing and sitting.

Compensation and Benefits
The starting pay rate for this position is indicated above. Benefits include: paid time off, sick time, a yearly wellness stipend, 1 week of paid restoration at the end of each year and possible eligibility for 401K after 1 year of employment.
