Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for folks who love to live on the edge – of buildings, regularly. A fear of heights won’t get you far here. We are looking for people who want to learn a new trade in a niche industry. We are looking for hustlers like us who are interested in working with our hands to leave our mark and leave places better than they were before we arrived. We want folks who measure twice and cut once, who go the extra mile even when we don’t have to. We want folks who are going to be as loyal to us as we are to them. We’re looking for guys who are READY. TO. GO. at 6am, even if it’s with the help of a Monster (or two, we don’t judge).
We’re looking for folks comfortable driving big trucks and who can pee in cups (for drug tests) without hesitation when other people ask us to. Construction experience may be helpful, but we have plenty of folks on our team who turned a wrench for the first time with us. Lastly, we are looking for people who are fun and have a sense of humor. These days are long. We’d rather work with folks that we like who fit into our culture than with folks who don’t fit that mold.
What We Do
We install lightning protection and grounding systems on facilities most susceptible to lightning damage – buildings in high elevation, data centers, hospitals, college campuses, and high-end homes. What that means is that we roll up our sleeves to protect people and assets at the highest heights and lowest depths of projects. Simply put, we have to install lightning protection on every part of a building that we don’t want to blow up. To do this, we operate heavy equipment like boom lifts and scissor lifts to get to the roof and mini excavators to dig a big lightning moat around the bottom perimeter of the building. We travel pretty frequently, as much as 75% of the time for crews on certain projects, but we’re always home on weekends to be with our families. We’d say, on average, we travel about 25% of the time.
Who We Are, and What You Get with Us
We’re blowing up like a house without lightning protection, and we need to add a few hard-working folks to our team to keep up with our workload. Sure, we offer health, dental, and vision insurance with a generous contribution, along with a 401(k) with a match and paid time off, but we like to think that we offer more than just the run-of-the-mill benefits package. We also invest in our people by providing training for heavy equipment and safety courses to make them the best installers they can be. We get to see and do things that very few others do. Forget looking at a skyline – we live in them. More than any of that, though, we genuinely enjoy working with each other. We – our people – are the best thing about us. Oh, and sometimes, we get Fridays off if the work is done by Thursday.
A View into Our Day-to-Day
We report to our Ball Ground office at 6:00am every morning unless we are working out of town. From there, you’ll meet up with your foreman and project manager to discuss daily tasks. Daily tasks include running conduit, pulling cable, using caulk guns to adhere cable fasteners to commercial and residential roofs, and digging for and driving ground rods. 95% of our work is done on flat, commercial roofs, but we crawl around in attics and swing a leg over the peak of a residential home every now and again, just to keep it interesting.
