Highland Canine Training, LLC is seeking a motivated, organized, and professional individual to join our team as a Director of Service Dog Programs . This position manages and leads all aspects of the Service Dog Program. Reports to the Training Director.
Director of Service Dog Program Responsibilities:
- Responsible for overall financial profitability and growth of the Service Dog Programs.
- Researches and develops methods to leverage outsourcing opportunities, if appropriate, to reduce costs to the business.
- Responsible for the entire life cycle of the service dog:
o Purchase, surrender, rescues
o Testing and selection
o Socialization (all stages: puppy, adolescent, and adult)
o Training/Obedience/Behavior modifications
o Veterinary care
o Delivery
o Client follow up
- Develops and manages all administrative processes of the Service Dog Programs:
o Client communications
o Application and selection/matching to families
o Delivery
o Forms and documents (up to date and accessible)
o Coordination with family schools to ensure access (per ADA)
- Responsible for all marketing and advertising of the Service Dog Programs.
- Coordinates with and leverages outside entities to improve the Service Dog Programs (Nursing homes, Schools, Children’s museums, etc.).
- Develops, implements and collates processes for client feedback incorporating information into updates and improvements to the Service Dog Programs.
- Ensure adequate supplies are on stock for the Service Dog Programs (food, office materials, etc.)
- Coordinates purchases and maintains all equipment used for training of service dogs; Inventories all equipment on a regular basis to ensure control and functionality.
- Ensures adequate kennel facilities are provided and used to ensure health and safety of the service dogs.
- Coordinates schedules and integrates appropriate resources with the K9 Education, Police/Military Working Dog, Kennel, and Pet Dog Programs.
- Responsible for providing input and ensuring quality curriculum is used for the Service Dog portions in the Master Dog Training curriculum.
- Provides facilitation and practical support, on an as needed basis, for courses in the K9 Education programs.
- Responsible for developing and conducting performance feedback on direct reports and developing and conducting annual performance evaluations.
- Develops and implements appropriate incentive and bonus programs to drive Team member’s performance.
- Coordinates and manages Independent Contractors working to train Service Dogs for Highland Canine Training.
- Responsible for coordinating all audits from outside entities on the Service Dog Program and developing and implementing internal controls to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.
- Responsible for consistently reviewing the training environment to ensure a safe and secure situation is provided for all students, staff and bi-standers. A training time out will be called for any imminent safety issues observed and will be immediately reported to your supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Pay: $30,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
