This role will integrate supply chain strategy with new product development (NPD), overseeing projects from ideation to launch to ensure products are cost-effective, manufacturable, and meet market needs. Key responsibilities include leading cross-functional teams, managing supply chain design for new products, optimizing supplier and logistics processes, and developing performance metrics to ensure alignment between product goals and supply chain capabilities. This role requires strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, often with experience in ERP systems and project management.
Responsibilities
- Leads and owns the process of bringing new products to market, from initial concept and market research to design, development, and successful launch.
- Align product development efforts with the company's overall business strategy and financial goals.
- A strong understanding of customer needs, marketplace behavior, and competitive risks
- Design and implement supply chain strategies for new products, ensuring products are designed to be "supply chain friendly" and cost-effective.
- Collaborate with sourcing to identify and vet suppliers for new components, managing the sample development and qualification process.
- Serve as a project manager for NPD (new product development) projects, developing and maintaining project schedules to ensure timely execution and delivery of information.
- Deep understanding of supply chain principles, logistics and inventory management.
- Strong analytical skills to analyze forecast demand, sales demand while implementing efficient inventory management and planning to support Company goals.
- Own product costing and BOM (Bill of Materials) development, and strategically manage inventory of long-lead-time materials to support new product launches.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to product development and supply chain analytics and adjust strategies as needed.
Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field like supply chain, business, or engineering, combined with 5+ years of experience in supply chain.
- Tools and tool storage industry experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management practices, demand planning, and production planning.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills to collaborate with diverse key players.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills, experience in AutoCad and/or other design and engineering programs and/or proficiency in supply chain software like ERP systems preferably Oracle/Netsuite and experience in negotiation, project management, and continuous improvement.
- A deep understanding of the entire product lifecycle from ideation to commercialization, knowledge of market research, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of market research techniques and understanding consumer behavior are important for identifying unmet needs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and process optimization.
- Effectively collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers.
