Job Summary
Tampa Welders is seeking a dependable and hardworking Welder Helper to assist with the fabrication and finishing of custom aluminum and steel products, including railings, gates, stairs, and other welded assemblies. This position is responsible for preparing materials, grinding and sanding welds, cleaning and finishing fabricated parts, maintaining an organized shop, and assisting welders throughout the fabrication process. The ideal candidate has a strong work ethic, pays close attention to detail, works safely, and is eager to learn metal fabrication and welding in a fast-paced shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist welders with fabrication and installation projects
- Cut, measure, and prepare materials
- Grind, sand, and finish welds for paint or powder coating
- Deburr and clean metal parts
- Drill holes and operate basic shop equipment
- Load and unload materials and completed projects
- Organize and stage materials for upcoming jobs
- Keep work areas clean and maintain shop housekeeping
- Assist with assembly of railings, gates, stairs, and other fabricated products
- Package and prepare completed jobs for delivery
- Help maintain tools and equipment
- Follow all shop safety procedures and wear required PPE
- Perform other shop duties as assigned
Requirements
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
- Ability to lift 50–75 lbs regularly
- Comfortable using grinders, sanders, drills, and basic hand tools
- Ability to accurately read a tape measure
- Willingness to learn welding and metal fabrication
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced shop environment
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Positive attitude and willingness to take direction
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Previous fabrication or construction experience is preferred but not required
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
