Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Towing Dispatcher to join our dynamic transportation team. In this vital role, you will coordinate the dispatching of tow trucks and service technicians, ensuring timely response to roadside assistance requests and vehicle recoveries. Duties
- Receive and prioritize incoming towing requests via multi-line phone systems, online platforms, and radio communications.
- Utilize GPS and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools to determine the most efficient routes for tow trucks and service vehicles.
- Dispatch tow trucks promptly using transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine, ensuring optimal fleet utilization.
- Maintain accurate data entry of job details, customer information, and vehicle data in various systems including AS400 and transportation management software.
- Communicate clearly with drivers, customers, and third-party logistics providers (3PL) to coordinate pickups, drop-offs, and emergency roadside assistance.
- Monitor fleet status using GPS tracking and fleet management tools to ensure timely responses and efficient resource allocation.
- Keep detailed logs of all dispatch activities, incidents, and service reports for analysis and continuous improvement.
- Provide excellent phone etiquette and professional communication to handle inquiries, updates, or complaints effectively.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in dispatching within transportation or logistics environments, with familiarity using transportation management systems like Oracle or SyteLine.
- Strong analysis skills to evaluate routes, optimize dispatching plans, and troubleshoot issues swiftly.
- Knowledge of GIS, GPS navigation tools, supply chain operations
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly over multi-line phone systems and radio channels.
- Proficiency in data entry with high accuracy using systems such as Towbook
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
- Familiarity with fleet management practices including vehicle tracking and maintenance scheduling is a plus.
