Outside Sales Representative – Fleet Services & Fuel Dealer Development
Van Zeeland Oil Co., Inc. is seeking a high-energy, self-motivated Outside Sales Representative to grow business for both Van Zeeland’s Auto Care and Van Zeeland Oil Co., Inc.
This dual-role position will focus first on developing fleet service accounts for our auto care centers in the Fox Valley area. The successful candidate will prospect businesses with small vehicle fleets, meet decision makers, and build relationships to earn their maintenance and repair business.
The role will also include learning and developing the fuel dealer side of our business by networking with gas station and convenience store owners throughout northern Wisconsin. Van Zeeland Oil Co., Inc. represents fuel brands including Mobil, Citgo, and Cenex, and this position will work to build long-term relationships, track fuel contract timelines, and pursue dealer conversion opportunities when contracts come up for renewal.
At the start, the role will be approximately 65% fleet sales, 10% current oil customer support, and 25% fuel dealer prospecting. Over time, the position is expected to evolve into a larger fuel dealer development role.
The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, independent, and comfortable managing their own daily sales activity. This is a department-of-one opportunity for someone who enjoys being out in the field, building relationships, and creating new business.
Responsibilities include:
- Prospecting businesses with small fleets in the Fox Valley area.
- Meeting decision makers and presenting Van Zeeland’s Auto Care fleet service solutions.
- Building relationships with gas station and convenience store owners.
- Tracking long-term fuel contract opportunities.
- Promoting Mobil, Citgo, and Cenex fuel brand opportunities.
- Supporting current oil customers as needed.
- Planning and managing daily sales activity independently.
- Maintaining organized records of prospects, contacts, follow-ups, and opportunities.
Qualifications:
- Outside sales or business development experience preferred.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated with excellent time-management skills.
- Comfortable with cold calling, door knocking, and in-person prospecting.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel.
- Automotive, fleet, petroleum, or convenience store experience helpful but not required.
