Kidwatch® is looking for Early Childhood Teacher to join our team!
Job duties include, but not limited to:
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times, being alert to the needs and/or problems of the children as individuals and as a group.
- Be familiar with and follow all licensing regulations, ExceleRate standards, and Kidwatch policies.
- Maintain classroom in accordance of all licensing regulations, and NAEYC standards.
- Provide support to Coordinator and Directors to create a safe, nurturing learning environment for all children enrolled.
- Render staff support (working as a team) to all programs and staff when necessary.
- Interact with children and encourage their involvement in the classroom community.
- Serve and clean up snacks and meals within time constraints according to regulations and procedures.
- Provide care for children’s basic needs, feeding, safety, and diaper changing / potty time, according to Kidwatch procedures.
- Comply with hand washing guidelines set forth in the state licensing regulations.
- Comply with applicable Universal Precautions and infection control guidelines.
- Follow guidelines and procedures when dealing with communicable diseases and dispensing medication.
- Maintain cleanliness and neatness in classroom, storage rooms, washrooms and all other areas of the center.
- Assist with all general housekeeping as needed.
- Maintain all classroom equipment in good repair, or inform supervisor of items in disrepair.
- Communicate information about children to Parents, Teachers, Coordinator and office as needed, regarding health, safety, problems, concerns, etc.
- Communicate with families regarding children on a daily basis, and by phone as needed.
- Develop professional relationships with children and families in classroom.
- Provide feedback to families on a daily basis (phone calls or direct communication) and through parent conferences.
- Plan curriculum and implement the daily program for assigned age group.\
- Decorate the classroom bulletin boards with photos, children’s artwork, etc.
- Attend in-service trainings.
- Obtain materials and supplies necessary for instructional activities.
- Complete weekly classroom observations, along with quarterly assessments using teachingstrategies.com, turned in by determined due dates.
- Complete all classroom paperwork and turn in, by determined due dates.
- Complete weekly lesson plans.
- Provide developmentally appropriate (individualized) activities for all children in classroom.
- Perform all work in accordance with city and state licensing regulations, ExceleRate standards and any Kidwatch policies.
- Physical constraints required include that ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without a hearing aid, the ability to see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses, to speak and be understood under normal circumstances, to lift and carry children and other items weighing up to 50 pounds, and the use of arms, hands, legs and feet with or without corrective devices to accomplish the job, including evacuations of the building during emergencies
- Assure that all contacts with clients, prospective clients, and staff in a courteous manner.
- Exhibit warmth, emotional stability and awareness of the emotional needs of the children, families and staff at all times.
- Exercise discretion, confidentiality and adhere to the NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct.
- Demonstrate commitment to increasing knowledge in the field of Early Childhood Education, through trainings and in-services.
- Demonstrate the following qualities: Self-motivated, self-directed, makes good judgments, creative, reliable, and dependable.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of internet and computer use.
Education Requirements
AT LEAST 2 years of college and 6 college credit hours in ECE (Education/ Early Childhood related courses) or CDA in either Infant/Toddlers or Preschool. Associates or Bachelors.
MUST be DCFS qualified teacher!
IL Gateways Credenitals - ECE Level 3 AND IT Level 2
