Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Diesel Technician/Mechanic to join our dynamic service team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment, dump trailer, hydrualics and commercial vehicles. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of diesel engines and related systems. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension systems, HVAC units, and electrical components using schematics and electronic testing tools.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment including lugger trucks, roll-off trucks, tractors, dump trailers, and flatbed trailers.
- Fabricate parts or components as needed using power tools, welding equipment (steel and aluminum), soldering techniques, and hand tools to meet specific repair requirements.
- Replace or repair shocks & struts, brakes, tires, shocks & struts, and perform wheel alignments to ensure safety and optimal operation.
- Maintain detailed service records documenting inspections, repairs, parts used, and diagnostics performed for each vehicle or piece of equipment.
- Assist with assembly or disassembly of machinery during repairs or upgrades while adhering to safety protocols.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair status clearly and offering maintenance advice to team members.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Diesel Technician/Mechanic with dealership or heavy equipment background preferred, master tech type experience level.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in diesel engine diagnostics and repairs involving transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, aftertreatment systems and electrical troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for complex machinery such as Cummins equipment or similar brands.
- Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; capable of heavy lifting safely during repairs or installations.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation and FMCSA regulations for CMV tractor-trailers.
- Ability to use power tools effectively while maintaining safety standards; experience with tire service is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a customer-focused attitude; able to communicate technical information clearly.
- Valid certifications in diesel engine repair, air brake systems, wheel alignment, or related fields are highly desirable.
