Position Overview
MAS Law is seeking an experienced Compliance Attorney to oversee and manage firmwide legal compliance initiatives across our multi-state personal injury practice. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations and plays a key role in ensuring compliance, risk management, and operational integrity throughout the firm.
Licensed in 14 states and continuing to expand, MAS Law is seeking a highly organized and proactive attorney with strong multi-jurisdictional compliance experience. The ideal candidate will be comfortable navigating complex regulatory and ethical requirements while partnering with leadership to develop and maintain scalable compliance systems and procedures.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Overseeing compliance with attorney advertising and solicitation rules across multiple jurisdictions
- Advising leadership regarding unauthorized practice of law (UPL) and multi-jurisdictional practice requirements
- Managing IOLTA and trust accounting compliance procedures
- Reviewing referral fee arrangements, fee splitting structures, and disclosure requirements
- Providing guidance regarding lien resolution compliance, including Medicare Secondary Payer obligations and ERISA-related matters
- Overseeing HIPAA compliance and Business Associate Agreements (BAAs)
- Developing and maintaining conflict screening procedures and ethical wall protocols
- Reviewing and negotiating vendor agreements from a compliance and risk-management perspective
- Ensuring compliance with marketing regulations, including TCPA and CAN-SPAM requirements
- Maintaining document retention, records management, and litigation hold procedures
- Assisting with internal policy development, compliance audits, and staff training initiatives
- Monitoring regulatory changes impacting law firm operations across multiple jurisdictions
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
- Active Texas Bar license required
- 5–10 years of relevant legal experience
- Multi-state legal compliance experience strongly preferred
- Plaintiffs’ personal injury experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of law firm operational and regulatory compliance
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage complex compliance matters across multiple jurisdictions simultaneously
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary of $150,000
