Urgent Veterinary Care in Auburn, NY is a privately-owned practice. We opened our doors in January 2022, filling an unmet need in the Finger Lakes area. We’re looking for team members to fill combination receptionist/assistant roles to help deliver the best care to our patients and clients. The ideal candidates will have animal handling experience as well as strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with animal examinations, treatments, and procedures, ensuring safety and comfort for all animals involved.
- Handle animal restraint safely and effectively during exams, diagnostics, and treatments, demonstrating knowledge of animal physiology and anatomy.
- Maintain accurate medical records, update patient files, and document procedures using veterinary terminology.
- Support kennel operations by caring for hospitalized animals, including feeding, cleaning, and monitoring their condition.
- Manage front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, answering client inquiries, processing payments, and maintaining client communication records.
- Handle pet care responsibilities including pet handling, dog handling, and basic laboratory work to support diagnostic processes.
- Ensure a clean, organized clinic environment by adhering to infection control standards and aseptic techniques.
- Assist with laboratory procedures such as sample collection and processing to support diagnostic testing.
- Provide compassionate pet care advice to clients regarding animal health, nutrition, and behavior.
Requirements
- Prior kennel experience is highly desirable.
- Experience working in a veterinary clinic or with veterinary technicians is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to handle animals safely—including dogs—and perform medication administration accurately.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures related to veterinary diagnostics is a plus.
- Strong communication skills for front desk interactions with clients; ability to explain pet care instructions clearly.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
