Civics Substitute Teacher (1099 Independent Contractor)
American Youth Academy is an Islamic-based private school located in Tampa, Florida, serving students from Pre-K through 12th grade. As our school continues to grow, we are seeking qualified Civics Substitute Teachers to join our team on an as-needed basis.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (Education or a related field preferred)
- Knowledge of Civics, U.S. Government, and Social Studies concepts
- Previous classroom teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred
- Strong classroom management skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to adapt to different classroom environments and teaching assignments
- Ability to work collaboratively with school administrators and staff
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Follow lesson plans provided by the classroom teacher and maintain continuity of instruction.
- Supervise students in a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
- Teach Civics and Social Studies lessons as assigned.
- Maintain effective classroom management and appropriate student behavior.
- Encourage student participation and engagement in learning activities.
- Monitor student work and provide feedback to the regular classroom teacher regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Utilize classroom technology and instructional resources appropriately.
- Follow all school policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the school administration.

- Arrive on time and prepared for substitute assignments.

Physical Demands
Substitute teachers spend most of the day standing, walking, and moving throughout the classroom. The position may require bending, kneeling, reaching, and occasionally lifting or carrying materials weighing up to 25 pounds. Teachers must be able to move throughout the classroom and supervise students effectively.
Environmental Demands
This position works primarily in classroom settings and occasionally outdoors. The work environment may include moderate to loud noise levels and exposure to varying temperatures during outdoor supervision or school activities.
