Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Med-Surg & Emergency Department PRN
Adair County Health System (ACHS) is seeking compassionate, skilled Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) to join our Medical-Surgical and Emergency Department teams on a PRN basis. What You’ll Do

Provide nursing care to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse

Assist with patient assessments, care plans, and evaluation of patient responses

Deliver total patient care including hygiene, ambulation, and elimination needs

Educate patients and families as directed by the RN

Initiate and assist with emergency support measures (Basic Life Support required)

Support ER patient care as a second assist when needed

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in patient records

Ensure patient confidentiality and professional, courteous interactions

Maintain a safe work environment by following OSHA standards and universal precautions

Assist with equipment setup, maintenance, and supply management

Monitor coworker workload and provide assistance as needed

Participate in staff education, orientation, and mandatory meetings

Float to other departments as needed with appropriate orientation

Support outpatient services when requested (e.g., SC, CR, SLS)

Adhere to hospital safety, risk management, and quality improvement policies

Current Iowa LPN license in good standing

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Strong communication and decision-making skills

Ability to remain calm, professional, and focused in a fast-paced environment

Willingness to assist across departments and adapt to changing priorities
