Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Alterations Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality alterations and repairs to garments, ensuring customer satisfaction through exceptional service and craftsmanship. You will work closely with clients to understand their needs and deliver tailored solutions that enhance the fit and appearance of their clothing.
Responsibilities
- Perform alterations on a variety of garments, including dresses, suits, and casual wear, ensuring precision and quality in all work.
- Perform a full range of alterations on men’s garments, including:
- Shirts: tapering sides, shortening sleeves
- Pants: taking in waist/seat/thighs, tapering legs, shortening/lengthening hems (plain bottoms and cuffs)
- Men’s Coats: tapering sides, shortening sleeves, and completing advanced tailoring needs
- Work with outside alterations, including women’s garments, as needed
- Conduct fittings with customers to ensure proper sizing, comfort, and satisfaction
- Maintain high standards of quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail
- Provide excellent customer service with a professional and friendly demeanor
- Handle garments with care and respect, especially luxury fabrics and tailored pieces
- Utilize sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques to execute alterations, repairs, and custom fittings.
- Assess garment construction and identify necessary adjustments to achieve the desired fit for customers.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their alteration requests and offering professional advice on garment care.
- Maintain an organized workspace, ensuring all tools and materials are readily available for efficient operation.
- Keep accurate records of alterations performed and manage inventory of fabrics and supplies as needed.
Requirements
- Previous experience in fashion retail or a similar environment is preferred.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with clients.
- Proficiency in operating sewing machines and a solid understanding of garment construction techniques.
- Excellent sewing skills with attention to detail in stitching and finishing work.
- Basic math skills for measuring fabric and calculating adjustments accurately.

Pay: $23.62 - $28.45 per hour
