Job Overview
As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities and other special needs. You will provide compassionate care and support to clients. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily living activities, promoting independence, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
This is a Weekend Only 12 hr. position. The hours are Saturday and Sunday, 7am -7pm, or 7pm -7am. Please specify your preferred shift when applying.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation
- Provide personal care and support to individuals with varying levels of physical and cognitive abilities
- Monitor and document clients' health status, including vital signs and behavioral changes
- Implement care plans as directed by healthcare professionals or family members
- Assist with medication administration and ensure compliance with prescribed regimens
- Engage clients in social activities to promote interaction and mental stimulation
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment through regular cleaning tasks
- Provide support for individuals with Alzheimer's, dementia, autism, or other developmental disabilities.
- Communicate effectively with clients, families, and team members regarding care needs
Skills
- First aid/ CPR and L1MA certification preferred
- Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in behavior or health status
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to maintain client confidentiality
- Familiarity with care giving techniques for individuals with disabilities
- Proficient in cooking and meal preparation tailored to dietary requirements
- Understanding of memory care practices for individuals with cognitive impairments
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also providing direct support independently
