Position Summary
We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Laborer with a background as a Pipe Layer and/or Topman to join our team. This individual will work on underground utility crews, installing storm, sanitary, and water lines on various site development projects.
Responsibilities
- Install storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and waterline pipe systems
- Maintain grade and document as-built conditions
- Operate sewer laser, rotating laser levels, and layout tools
- Use hand and power tools (chop saw, jackhammer, compactors, etc.)
- Adhere strictly to trench and confined space safety protocols
- Collaborate with operators, foremen, and other crew members
- Follow all safety policies and participate in ongoing safety training
- Work in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks
- Overtime work required as needed
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in pipe laying or topman roles (utility installation)
- Experience with underground utilities: sanitary sewer, storm sewer, water lines.
- Demonstrated work in excavated trenches, installing/fitting pipe, backfill, compacting, fine grading.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow instructions
- Must be dependable, punctual, and have a solid work ethic
- Able to work on feet all day in all weather conditions
- OSHA 30 (preferred – training provided if needed)
- Union membership (Laborers’ Union) required or willingness to join
