POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Early Childhood Developmental Technician Department: Education
Reports To: Early Childhood Developmental Specialist

Classification: Non-Exempt/Hourly/Safety Sensitive Position

POSITION PURPOSE
The Early Childhood Developmental Technician (ECDT) assists the Early Childhood Developmental Specialist (ECDS) and/or Lead ECDT in carrying out the daily lesson plan and implementing the Individualized Educational Treatment Plan (IETP) for each patient.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES
- The ECDT works directly under the supervision of the ECDS or Lead ECDT of his/her treatment room.
- Assists with supervision of patients and participates in the implementation of the Individualized Educational Treatment Plan (IETP) to ensure the maximum treatment of the patients served.
- Maintains visual supervision of the patients at all times.
- Ensures a positive emotional climate for the patients by showing respect to children and adults through a willingness to help others, by maintaining harmonious interpersonal relations, and through use of appropriate and approved discipline techniques under the guidance of the ECDS or Lead ECDT.
- Ensures accuracy with sign in/out process within the billing system.
- Signs off on treatment rooms as required within the billing system.
- Assists the ECDS or Lead ECDT in maintaining an environment conducive to preventative discipline.
- Speaks in a well modulated, pleasant, and loving voice to patients and personnel.
- Represents the program to parents, visitors, and the public in a positive way.
- Attends and actively participates in job-related center functions.
- Maintains a clean, safe, healthy, and sanitary learning environment for patients by working under the supervision of the ECDS or Lead ECDT to ensure that patients are kept clean, clothing is changed when necessary, and toys and other materials are disinfected as needed.
- During periods of physical activity, ensures that active involvement is maintained with patients to promote gross and fine motor skills.
- Immediately reports any information regarding health and safety concerns to the Early Childhood Supervisor or Nurse.
- Completes relevant and approved in-service trainings per fiscal year as required by CCL standards.
- Assists the ECDS or Lead ECDT with documentation.
- May be asked to perform some housekeeping/janitorial functions.
- Assists on van routes as needed.
- May perform other related and non-related duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/ Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CDA preferred.
Experience/ Knowledge required:
- Prefer at least one year of successful experience in a classroom setting working with developmentally at-risk children or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/ Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people.
- Must be able to work with children birth to age 18 and families who are at risk.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Basic computer skills which includes a working knowledge of database, word processing, spreadsheet, and Internet software.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
